Our harissa is moderately spicy and delicious on just about everything. In order to make harissa paste, simply mix our dry spice blend with oil to desired consistency. You can make it in smaller quantities so it stays fresh longer. Some of our other favorite uses are in mayo or yogurt for a dipping sauce, as a seasoning for chicken wings or simply sprinkled over a baked sweet potato.
Berbere is one of the most popular spice blends in Ethiopian cuisine. It’s typically used as an all purpose seasoning. Our version is bright, spicy, and has an extra kick.
Za’atar is a popular condiment in Arabic nations that is traditionally eaten with pita and olive oil. Our take on this blend uses whole thyme for added texture and flavor. Stir into plain yogurt and spread on pita bread or use as a light, healthy dip for fresh veggies.
Ras El Hanout is a North African blend whose name loosely translate to “top shelf.” It is meant to be a mix of the shop keepers best spices. There is no definitive recipe for Ras El Hanout, and everyone has their own slightly different blend. This is our take on Ras El Hanout. The cinnamon, clove, cardamom and nutmeg impart a rich sweetness while the black pepper and turmeric add savory elements. It can be used in sweet or savory dishes and has become one of the more versatile spices in our cabinet.
